When Moses came down from Mount Sinai
with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands,
he was not aware that his face was radiant
because he had spoken with the Lord.

I've always been drawn to this story. It reminds me that being in the presence of God changes us. In the case of Moses, the result was a glowing face. That might happen to us even today. More likely, though, the result of our being in God's presence will be a little different.
A little different perhaps - but still noticeable.

It seems to me that time in God's presence will most likely result in changes in our character and in our behavior - regardless of whether or not it causes our faces to shine! When we spend time with God, the fruit of his Spirit will be more and more apparent in our lives. Maybe we won't literally be glowing, but we will find ourselves exhibiting the qualities and characteristics of God.
Sometimes that kind of change takes a long, long time. But if we don't see those changes - and if we cannot observe that kind of growth - then we haven't really been in God's presence. On the other hand, if we really do see him and walk with him daily, then that vital relationship will make a noticeable difference in our lives.
Moses was completely unaware of what had happened to his face. But the people around him couldn't help but notice. Hopefully, that will happen to the people around us too. Hopefully, the quality of our lives will be certain evidence that we have been in the very presence of God.
If we are serious about our walk, we will necessarily spend time with God. And when we do that, we shouldn't be surprised that we are being changed.
